Schisandra Chinensis is one of nature's most exquisite adaptogens.
Schizandra berry is very important within tonic herbalism. Known as one of the queens, she contains the '5 flavours'. Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), flavours can be thought of as the energetic signatures of a plant, each carrying a unique healing trait. Queen Schizandra contains 'sweet', 'bitter', 'salty', 'sour' and 'pungent', which relate to her ability to target the 5 yin organs, i.e. Liver, Lungs, Heart, Kidneys, and Spleen.
Schizandra is also known as a 'spiritual tonic' that nourishes the Jing, Qi, and particularly the Shen.
