  • Review of Simply Divine Botanicals by Anna Rogers

    Simply Divine Botanicals

Raw Living is known for being one of the best raw food online shops in all of Europe, but I also think it stocks some of the best skin care too! After trying the Living Libations products a few months ago, I jumped at the chance to try another one of Kate's much loved brands. Simply Divine Botanicals is a raw skincare brand which is made in Las Vegas, USA.  They are made by Barbara Rogers, who is a herbalist (and a 'master' one at that) and natural healer. Barbara's been right into the health scene for many years and used to have her own Raw Food Restaurant, which was the first of its kind in the city known for its partying!  Barbara doesn't just hand make these gorgeous products, she actually infuses good energy (unconditional love and gratitude!) into them by doing Reiki sessions on the products. So you really are spreading high energized ingredients into your skin!

Kate sent me a few samples to try out and every single one of them was......Divine........ so I know the brand name is very appropriate for it's products!

The Simply Divine Cream De Rose Facial Moisturiser is one of the best moisturisers I have ever used. It was also the first product to be made by Barbara, and may be still one of her best. It instantly makes your skin look SO much better with a dewy glow. This is from the addition of cucumber gel in the formula which is renowned for slightly 'sticking' to the skin (but in a good, non gross way!) so that the skin looks instantly hydrated and plump. This slightly pink in colour gel/cream smells absolutely amazing and is so gentle on the skin. Its one of my 'must have' items and if I could afford it, I'd be buying it by the bucket load to put it all over my entire body too.  Ahh imagine how nice that would be......The cream is very rich in fatty acids, nutrients, vitamins, anti-oxidants and essential oils.  The formula helps to promote new cell growth, is very healing and also has anti-wrinkle and anti-aging benefits.

INGREDIENTS: Unconditional Love & Gradtitude, Spring Water, Seaweed Powder, Cucumber Gel, Organic Virgin Coconut Cream, Almond Oil, Apricot Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Rose Hip Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sunflower Oil, Tubarose Oil, Essential oils of: Rose Geranium, Rosewood, Bergamont, Roman Chamomile, Bulgarian Lavender, Vanilla, & Rose Absolute

APPLICATION: Apply to cleansed skin morning & evening.

The second product I tried which was also unforgettable, was the Black Velvet fabulous foaming facial Cleanser. This uniquely formulated wash off cleanser, is made with a whole host of healing and skin loving ingredients:

INGREDIENTS: Unconditional Love & Gratitude, Organic Whole-leaf Aloe Vera, Oils of: Jojoba, Avocado, Coconut, Sea Buckthorn, Almond, Palm & Carrot. Papaya, Banana, Cocoa Tree extract, Outer Body Experience, Seaweed, MSM, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium. Essential oils of: Frankincense, Myrrh, Lavender, Helichrysum, Blood Orange, Pink Grapefruit, Rosewood, Patchouli & Geranium.

A little bit goes a heck of a long way and it's very gentle on the skin. Although the black colour of the product is unusual, it sure does leave the skin feeling like it's namesake - velvet!

The amazing Simply Divine Botanical products don't stop here either, Outer Body Experience, a hair, face and body cleanser, is pretty special too. It has a stunning blue/green colour and is a wonderful 3-1 product.  If you have to try one product and you don't have a big budget, try this one as you can use it to clean your hair, face and body too. I loved it!

Formulated with:Unconditional Love and Gratitude, Organic Whole-Leaf Aloe Vera, Eloptic, Energized and Oxygenated Water, MSM, Ash of Dedecyl Dehydrabiethyamine (coconut derived), Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, Oils of Avocado, Almond, Olive, Coconut, Vitamin E and Essential Oils.

Simply Divine Botanicals are completely worthy of it's brand name, they are unforgettable products and are super special. is the only place in the UK where you can buy them! I only tried a few of the products, but trust me there's plenty more that sound amazing! I've got my eye on the How Now Brown Cow chocolate scented body butter, Yum!

  • The Amazing Living Libations - review by Anna Rodgers

Check out the full Living Libations range here.

Once in a while there comes along a skin care company that is in a league of it's own. One that is unlike any other and quickly becomes a cult beauty brand. Living Libations is a perfect example of this.  There is simply nothing else like this brand on earth. And I can tell you this, if I had the funds to buy absolutely every single product from this range, I so would!

I'd been hearing lots about this unique range with the intriguing name.  It was much loved by many people in the raw food world for it's bio-dynamic, organic and raw ingredients and pretty sounding, almost poetic product names.  The creators, Nadine Artemis and Ron Obadia are two vibrant characters that you just won't forget after meeting or seeing speak on youtube.  Clearly lovers of poetry, spirituality and being at one with the universe, they have poured every inch of themselves into this brand.  It's more than just a range of products, it's a lifestyle and almost a 'beauty and health religion'.  Once you try these products you just won't be the same. I have tried countless brands over the years and have got a small amount of favorites, so it takes a lot to impress me these days but Living Libations has just blown me away. There's a whole heap of celebrities who love this range too, including Alanis Morisette - have a read here!

Living Libations have been featured in many glossy mag and even the New York Times.

It's hard to know where to begin with reviewing this brand except to say that there is SO much to say and I don't even think I can do it justice! With a large amount of one of a kind products, they have really thought of everything and much more, in fact they have created products for the whole family and also have a huge range of cosmetic and healthcare products for teeth and oral care. Nadine, the product formulator, knows how important oral care is for the entire body and set out to create a range that would replace ever going to see the dentist if used properly.  There's so much that can be done for teeth without ever needing extreme things done to them.

Living Libations are known for their organic perfumes, (which sound so unique!) delicious scented body oils and exquisite skincare.  Nadine really is an alchemist, and has formulated everything so beautifully with her special gifts of knowing what should go with what. Her knowledge is extensive of all different subjects. You can watch a short video at the bottom of this post. She is like a walking encyclopedia! Making your own range of products is not as easy as what it might appear, there's much more to making something smell good, its got to work and has to really make a difference to peoples health and skin. The range is extensive, they even have  a few products for kids. There's the gum product for kids Wild Child Healthy Gum drops.

There's essential oils for immunity and health and wellbeing in general. If I had owned a beauty salon or retreat, I would be using the entire Living Libations range! There's so much to offer people and there's also special things for massage and meditation. Their Chakra Set  contains 7 blends of essential oils for each of the 7 chakras.

Living Libations even sell their own raw chocolate which sounds absolutely incredible! Whilst its not your average cheap as chips chocolate bar, it does sound pretty spectacular, more like a medicine than just something yummy to eat, and it's worth trying at least once! Although people are saying once you try it, theres no going back, that this stuff's the best. It does sound like it! Its clear to see when you read the ingredients, that this chocolate really is SO good for you and can genuinely help you to stay healthy! And it's not just about the benefits of cacao but the added herbs, essential oils and superfoods. What better reason do you need to have a bit every day?

Living Libations have a real love for chocolate and that even spills over into their skin care! They have formulated a ChocolateKarat Serum which I just had to try - and wow was it totally drop your jaw amazing! I've never smelt anything like this before, the thought that came into my mind when testing it out was 'nectar of the gods'. Now I don't know what that is, or what it would smell like, but I bet this is pretty spot on. Honestly, it is something from heaven! Please click on the link above and go and have a read about this serum! I can't do it justice like they can. It was so beautiful to blend into the skin, I would always think wow if only I could have this all over the entire body as well! Now, even though it contains chocolate, it doesn't actually smell like chocolate, but don't let that disappoint you because what it does smell like is even better! My skin absolutely loved this serum too!

The other product I tried out from the range was also for the face, but this time it was a mask. Living Libations have an exfoliating product called Green Papaya and Lime AHA face mask. This is something you put on after cleansing the face. You can either leave on for 15 minutes then wash off, or leave on over night. The papaya and lime help to gently exfoliate the skin leaving it soft and smooth. I used to use very harsh exfoliants years ago so now try and use something very soft. This was perfect. Smelt very tropical and uplifting. Long lasting too as only  a tiny bit is needed for face neck and backs of hands.

Theres lots of things that jump out at me when reviewing the range, and I am very impressed by their sunscreen which I plan to get when weather is warmer.  I've never know a sunscreen to contain the sorts of ingredients thats in Living libations. Their Everybody Loves The Sunshine With Zinc has a pretty unique array of ingredients: Made with 20% uncoated zinc oxide and organic ingredients of: nourishing oils of the desert jojoba plant, virgin coconut crème, red raspberry seed, seabuckthorn berry, tamanu and regenerating essences of helichrysum, lavender, cape chamomile, ginger, geranium, palmarosa, rose otto, carrot, ginger, frankincense, turmeric, calendula, sandalwood and thyme linaloo.

I also experienced one of their oral care products, the Yogi Teeth Serum. This is a blend of essential oils that you put on your toothbrush or add to some water to make a mouthwash. It contains clove, cinnamon, neem and a few other oils that create a very antibacterial serum. This means that you can keep gum disease at bay and keep your breath fresh. It has a very spicy taste.  And makes your entire mouth feel oh so clean. I had a few problems with gum sensitivity for a while. Ever since I had Lola, my gums were more sensitive and sometimes would bleed in certain areas. After using the teeth serum thats totally gone! Some customers have said that its helped heal cavities as well!

I've only experienced such a small part of this exquisite range, but I already am totally in awe of it. Each and every single product has had so much thought and care go into their concoctions and judging by the glowing testimonials (found on their site) its no wonder that people are raving so much about this brand.  Whilst some of the products aren't inexpensive, its because they have sourced the best organic and biodynamic ingredients.

  • Living Libations Poetic Pits Deodorant

    Poetic Pits

For me, it has proven nearly impossible to find a deodorant that uses completely non-toxic ingredients and also actually works.  There hasn’t been a single one I’ve tried that has been completely effective at banishing odour.  In my mission to find one, I decided to invest in the Living Libations deodorant because it gets very good reviews and is made of absolute tip-top quality essential oils (hence the price).  It comes in a tiny bottle that doesn’t look like it will last five minutes, but you don’t need much – just a quick stroke with the little roller applicator.  My verdict?  It’s effective in most situations so I’d rate it the best I have tried so far.

I tried the lavender one.  It’s not completely infallible; there were at least two occasions when I detected a sweaty smell after a long day.  But to be fair, I am a tough challenge for any deodorant at the moment as I’m going through a period of deep cleansing and a lot of toxic gunk is coming out through my skin.  I am also doing intermittent fasting which means I am in ketosis some of the time, which is notorious for making a person pong.  I would expect that someone who is either cleaner than me or who just isn’t emitting waste through the skin would find this product more than capable of keeping their pits sweet-smelling.  Also, the days I did feel less than fresh were both hot humid days when I was doing something that made me sweat with nerves because I was meeting people, so definitely a tough test for this deodorant.  The funny thing I noticed was that when I undressed at the end of the day, my actual underarm area smelled fine – it was the clothes that had a slightly sweaty odour.  They were man-made fabrics because I had to be dressed up, and that may have been a factor.

My overall rating of Poetic Pits is 8/10 because it smells good, the ingredients are of exceptional quality, and it works well under most normal circumstances.

  • Sacred Sage Smokeless Mist by Medicine Flower

    Sacred Sage Smokeless Mist Spray

This spray is made by the same company who produce the incredibly popular Medicine Flower Extracts, so I knew it was going to be a premium product from the off. But I first imagined  it was simply a nice-smelling room spray.  Although I was never a fan of those artificial commercial air freshener aerosols, the idea of a pleasant room spray that is non-toxic appeals to me.  But I’m so impressed with this product because I find it does so much more than just make a nice smell – it functions as a kind of energy medicine that you breathe in.

First thing you notice is it smells pleasant in a very natural way, like a walk through the woods.  It’s not at all artificial or overpowering.  But I soon noticed that it also completely neutralizes bad smells with great efficiency.  I guess Febr*ze does the same thing only the makers of that probably use all sorts of stuff you don’t want to be breathing in.  I have tested Sacred Sage mist on a very smelly bathroom and found one spray was enough to get rid of the pong.  I’m not sure if the people at Medicine Flower intended it to be used for such a lowly function, but if it works, I’ll use it!

The third level this spray works at is a little harder to describe without sounding a little "out there".  Let’s say, it helps to calm my mind when I try to meditate - I say try, ‘cos I’m still total rubbish, but this stuff helps.  It doesn’t surprise me to learn that the Native Americans have used sage and cedar for hundreds of years to prepare a space for sacred rituals.  The spray does seem to have a clearing effect on an energetic level.  This is something I only dimly perceive as yet. I imagine others may find it more obvious.  Certainly this spray mist is intended for use to purify a space for ritual or healing purposes and is an easy and pleasant way to achieve this aim, a lot more convenient than setting fire to a bunch of leaves and wafting them about.  So whether you want to meditate, heal or just breathe easy in the bathroom, have a go with Sacred Sage mist and relax…

Alpha Dream Supreme Cream & Ripe Shimma Lip Gloss

  • Alpha Dream Angel Cream

    Alpha Dream Angel Cream

As a woman I have spent the last 16 years buying and using moisturiser on my face.  I have gone through the younger years of buying commercial face products that are very cheap, full of chemicals and do nothing beneficial for your skin at all!  Then during my 20’s I fell into the more expensive ‘luxurious’ range.  The range which is really expensive and makes you feel, “It must be good for me,” because it is so expensive.  They tell you it has natural ingredients and it will tone, tighten, and clean your skin leaving it so soft, so radiant and ten years younger.   Unfortunately I fell for this con and spent lots of money and time with these products.

When I was pregnant with my little boy I decided not to use any chemicals at all!  In the house, in my food or on my skin.  I watched a programme which warned about how many chemicals our skin comes into contact with daily, due to the dangerous chemical content in our products etc.  This shocked me and turned my life around.

I went to the local health supermarket, Infinity foods in Brighton, and bought out the shop – much to my finances' horror!  Amongst them I bought face products.  I won’t mention the much loved brand which I bought, but it made my skin dry, and the peach kernel for the scrub got in my eye I ended up in A&E with a scratched lense!  I never used that brand again.

When Kate asked me to try out her new skin care range I was very excited.  I bought the pot into my massage course and showed my colleagues, who were all hooked instantly.  Luckily we were learning how to do facials so I had an amazing chocolately flowery ALL natural facial and massage – bliss!

Alpha Dream is a rich, dark, smooth smell with healing properties of aloe, MSM, hemp oil, cacao, coconut butter, jasmine essential oil, ylang ylang essential oil, clary sage essential oil, may chang oil and monoi de Tahiti.  All of which give relaxation and true cell regeneration.  MSM softens and heals the skin and the essential oils provide stillness of the mind.

This is a moisturiser which I will always have, I love it!

  • I scream, you scream, we all scream for Angel Cream

    Alpha Dream Angel Cream

I have to say I wasn't sure how this luscious new addition to the Alpha Dream range, Angel Cream, was going to compare to my all time favourite Supreme Cream.  You see, I'm a total sucker for anything with glitter in it and so Supreme Cream takes a lot of beating.

With almost entirely edible ingredients, including cacao butter, coconut butter, monoi de Tahiti, hemp oil, aloe, MSM, jasmine, clary sage, ylang ylang and may chang. Angel Cream is a deliciously light and soft body cream suitable for those that want all the benefits of raw natural skincare but without the glitter...

I find this cream very hydrating and great for dry skin.  I've been slathering it all over my legs and arms and my friend commented the other day I was feeling very smooth!  A little certainly goes a long way.

The fragrance is very light and sweet and the only difficulty is trying to refrain from eating it!

  • Dream. Dream dreeeeam cream.

    Alpha Dream Dragon Cream

For a long time I was an avid user and proponent of a certain high-street cosmetics chain which prides itself on being luscious. I had a bad experience with them though, and while my remaining supply of face cream has been running lower and lower I’ve been searching for a replacement which is just as ethical, cheap, effective, and toxin-free – no mean feat, I have to say!

So with that in mind, I have to say that the Alpha Dream Dragon Cream is, well, an absolute dream. It’s completely vegan and not animal tested; the ingredients are all-natural in the truest sense of the word – not a chemical in sight, the ingredients can actually almost all be found in my food cupboard with the exception of the essential oils; and it’s more effective by far than what I was using before; and it works out cheaper than the old! Can’t say fairer than that.

So what’s it actually like then? First impressions are that the jar is small, and that’s true, but it’s packed full of great things, and a little of this stuff goes a long way. I’ve been using it every day for over a week now and you can barely tell it’s been used at all. The smell is amazing – cacao butter central – but not overpowering and once it’s been on for a minute the smell is gone, which is great if you’re using other scents or you don’t want to smell like a chocolate bar all day. Going on it feels quite greasy and at first that can be off-putting, but it sinks in very quickly and leaves no shiny residue all over your face, which is brilliant. The hemp oil with its Omega oils is great for your skin, especially dry skin, and the MSM provides sulphur which most people are severely lacking in – feeding your skin from the outside, essentially!

I have to say I’m very, very impressed overall with this cream, it will definitely be a bathroom cabinet staple from now on!
